| What:
The T-Mobile International, formerly called the San
Francisco Grand Prix, is the biggest single day bicycle race
in the United States. Last year, nearly half a million spectators
watched five time Tour de France Champion Lance Armstrong compete
against the Webcor
Cycling Team in one of the toughest one-day events
in the world.
When:
Sunday, September 14th. Women: 7:30 am - 10:00 am. Men: 11:00
am - 3:00 pm.
Where:
The race starts along the Embarcadero, races through North Beach
and along the Marina, past the Webcor Presidio construction site,
then up the challenging Webcor-sponsored King of the Mountain climbs
of Fillmore and Taylor Streets back to the Start/Finish. The men
race eight 10-mile laps including both the Fillmore and Taylor Street
climbs, and then five shorter, 5-mile laps on a circuit featuring
the Taylor Street climb for 108 miles. The women race four 10-mile
laps, and then finish with one of the 5-mile circuits.
Best
Spectating: Along Fillmore or Taylor Streets, or near the Start/Finish
Line along the Embarcadero. Fillmore Street is extraordinarily steep,
and even the strongest cyclists suffer to scale its steep pitches.
A big screen TV and vendor booths grace the Embarcadero, allowing
you to watch the race throughout. The top of Taylor Street makes
a natural amphitheater, and is the best spot to watch the final
moves of the race play out.
Cafes
and Restaurants: There are numerous cafes and restaurants along
Chestnut, Columbus, and Union Streets. The cafes along Union Street
are right at the base of the Fillmore Street climb and provide an
excellent diversion while waiting for the race to return for another
lap.

Sponsors: The official Webcor Cycling Team Website presents
a complete list of team
sponsors.
