US Postal Service

Five time Tour de France Champion Lance Armstrong leads a US Postal Service squad featuring Olympic Champion Viatcheslav Ekimov, and local Santa Cruz resident Damon Kluck.

The US Postal Service is one of the strongest teams in the world and is sure to make an impact on the race

Team Telekom

Alexandre Vinokourov - 3rd overall in this years' Tour de France - leads a strong Telekom team in the SFGP. Alexander Vinokourov has had a fantastic season this year with victories in the Tour of Switzerland, Paris-Nice, and the Amstel Gold World Cup race in the Netherlands.

Saeco - Cannondale

Gilberto Simoni leads the Saeco-Cannondale squad. The highlight of Simoni's season was a 2nd victory in the Giro di Italia, which nicely complements his 2001 victory in that event. Gilberto also earned victory in a mountain stage in the Tour de France.

Team Saturn

Saturn has dominated the domestic racing circuit in 2003, winning the overall in the Pomona Valley Stage Race, the Redlands Classic, the Sea Otter Classic, the Tour of Georgia, the Cascade Classic, and the International. Led by Number 1 ranked US rider Chris Horner, local Sunnyvale resident Eric Wohlberg, and defending champ Charles Dionne, the team looks for a big result in the biggest race America.

7Up - Maxxis

The 7Up team's aggressive riding style makes for exciting racing, and often results in podium finishes. Watch out for John Lieswyn infiltrating and instigating small break throughout the race.

Vini Caldirola

2000 Giro di Italia winner Stephano Garzelli leads the strong Vini Caldirola team. Garzelli is an excellent climber who can also sprint well.

Navigators

The Navigators Cycling Team spent most of the spring racing in Europe. After a victory in the GP de la Ville de Rennes and a fine 2nd place at the Route Adelie, the team has been riding strong against American competition.

Prime Alliance

Prime Alliance has had a challenging season with illness taking a toll on the team in the early season. They have a strong roster that includes Jonathan Vaughters - holder of the fastest ascent up France's fearsome Mont Ventoux. Other riders to watch include David Clinger, and Santa Rosa resident John Peters.
