Prior to 2003, Betina rode only to cross train or commute to rowing practice. Rowing had been her focus since 1998, during which she would spend summers in Canada at national team training camps and winters in California. In May of 2003, lacking a travel visa, Betina was unable to head to Canada in time for rowing trials and began racing on the road with Alto Velo. The following winter she dedicated herself to cycling and the investment paid immediate dividends. After joining the Webcor Builders team halfway through the season, Betina became a solid and dependable teammate for the remainder of the year. Her goals for 2005 are to become a better, stronger and faster racer and to keep supporting her teammates at every opportunity.

Outside of cyling, Betina works full time as a memory chip designer for ARM Holdings, designing circuits at the transistor level and worrying about submicron effects in the New Product development group. She also has coached her fellow co-workers in recreational rowing for the past 4 years.
