To say that Christine's season in 2004 was a breakthrough would be an understatement. 2004 saw her crowned national time trial champion in June, a victory that earned her spot on the Olympic team in Athens where she took 4th in the time trial. Christine then followed up her Olympic success by winning her first NRC stage race at the Cascade Classic in July. She carried her form into the latter stages of the season as well, taking 4th in the T-Mobile International and 7th in the time trial at the World Championships in Verona.
Christine's athletic life began with cross-country and track running from junior high through her college years. She began road cycling in 1998 while attending medical school at Stanford University. In 1998, she qualified for Collegiate National Championships as a member of the highly successful Stanford womens's team, helping her teammate win the overall individual omnium, and helping Stanford secure second place in the team competition. In addition to competing at the highest level in the sport of cycling, Christine also received her medical degree from Stanford University in 1999, was Board Certified in Internal Medicine in 2002 and is currently a Postdoctoral fellow in Rheumatology at Stanford University.
