Do laundry during non-peak energy usage hours.
- Run washer/dryer and dish washer will full loads.
- Turn off all lights and appliances when not in use to reduce energy consumption.
- Reuse plastic cottage cheese (or other) containers from the grocery store as tupperware.
- Place a brick in toilet water tank to reduce water use.
- Print double sided.
- Recycle everything that you can using your city curbside recycling program; take other recyclable items to your local recycling center.
- Line dry cycling clothes instead of putting them in the dryer (makes your shorts last longer too!).
- Compost all fruit and vegetable kitchen scraps.
- Recycle and/or reuse boxes and packing materials.
- Set the thermostat automatically to 62 during the day when home, and 50 at night; wear a sweater instead of turning up the heat.
- Use compact fluorescent light bulbs; they save energy and money.
- Install dual pane windows to use less heat.
- Use drip irrigation in the yard to use less water.
- Reuse old innertubes to tie up plants and stake young trees in the yard. They make great bungee cords too.
