How do you Go Green? My car runs on biodiesel fuel; I compost, recycle, and reuse; use travel mugs and cloth grocery bags; buy organic and in bulk; bicycle or use public transportation when possible; use Energy Star light bulbs; useelectronic paperless billing; am enrolled in Renewable Choice Energy (purchasing wind energy credits). I was born and raised in Northern Vermont on a pair of alpine skis. My high school years were spent at Burke Mountain Academy, a ski academy for alpine and nordic racers wishing to devote themselves to their sport, while also receiving a solid education. Knee injuries forced me off of skis and onto my brother's cyclocross bike as rehab for my knees. The competition bug was eating at me, and after entering my first bike race in May of 2006, I was hooked.

Last season, my first year on a professional cycling team (Webcor), offered an amazing learning foundation. My teammates are incredibly talented athletes, but it is the collective experience and professionalism shown by them and the entire organization that made a lasting impression on me. I'm sure we all gain from each other, in some way, throughout the season. I hope to add to this in '09 with focus, dedication, long pulls… along with many laughs and fun experiences that make up the Webcor team… and my good friends.

While my focus on the bike is road racing, I also race a full season of cyclocross and find mountain bike racing and riding a refreshing break.  After five months of racing cross, my mind is refreshed yet my legs are ready for the upcoming road season. Like the road racing season, cross introduces me to unique places and people, from Portland to Gloucester, Belgium to Italy. it's an exciting ride. Come along for a ride on the green train at Amy's Blogspot.
