Cycling for me began after having multiple knee reconstruction surgeries, and realizing that downhill ski racing and playing soccer were no longer in the cards for me! I borrowed a friend's mountain bike and immediately became hooked on it! It didn’t take me long to switch my competitive edge to mountain bike racing. I sold my car when I moved to Vancouver to complete my BSc. in Kinesiology, and commuted every day to school and work while training on the bike and in the gym. My coach recommended that I road race for mountain bike racing fitness… I then got hooked on road racing too!
Eventually there was not enough time to race both mountain and road so I switched completely to road racing. Then one day I borrowed a track bike, in 2004… yup, got hooked on that too! From then on, I had my sights set on the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. I learned fast and trained hard securing myself and Canada a spot at the 2008 Olympic Games. This was a life-long dream and goal. The Webcor Women’s Cycling Team was really supportive throughout this time and I have them to thank a lot for helping me achieve this dream.
When I am not on the bike, I am a registered Kinesiologist practicing Exercise Therapy/Rehabiliation. I have worked in Ergonomic Consulting and Cardiac Rehabilitation programs as well as General Exercise Therapy.
I joined Webcor in 2008. I have never worked with a more professional group that puts their heart and soul into helping women cyclists reach the top and beyond. They support you both on and off the bike. I am proud to be racing for the Webcor Women's Cycling Team again in 2009 while continuing on as a positive role model for helping to save our environment. GO GREEN!!!
