This Canadian speedster had a breakout 2002 season highlighted by winning the San Francisco Grand Prix. In San Francisco, he outsprinted a small breakaway group that included several seasoned European pros, most notably Lance Armstrong, a feat that earned him the 2002 VeloNews “North American Ride of the Year” award. Dionne saw his 2003 campaign hampered by crashes and injuries, but his early 2004 stage wins at the Tour of Wellington and the Redlands Bicycle Classic indicate he's back to top form and ready for a big year, and with luck, a trip to the Olympics in Athens.
