| Greg is a preternaturally talented climber that rose rapidly through the ranks in 2002 as a member of the Alto Velo club. Greg's 2003 season started slowly due to a back injury, but got back on track when he won the California State Climbing Championships in mid-June. He followed that up with a portentous ride in the Elkhorn Classic in late June which paved the way for a remarkable July. Greg made a splash on the national circuit with his herioc rides in the mountainous stages of the Cascade Classic, netting two top-ten finishes, as well significant accolades in the cycling media. In addition to being a talented cyclist, he is also a showman at heart (he was once the frontman for a metal band in the 80s), as witnessed by his antics conducting the crowd on Fillmore and Taylor streets during the T-Mobile International in September. Off the bike, Greg is the business manager of a mobile veterinary clinic that he established with his wife, Dr. Petra. |
